Constance, mum of Athus 2 year old and Vadim 3 months old, owner of the website Mumday Mornings, dedicated to cool moms (cool tips on fashion, food, extra-scolar activities and other entrepreneur mum’s interviews) gave us her favorite spot…
‘I love La Maison du Bassin in Cap Ferret, a charming hotel, located only a few meters from Cap Ferret lighthouse, the oyster-farming littles houses and from the city centre… You can go round by feet or by bike, that’s what we love the most about this place. Our perfect day: enjoy some oysters in the cabins of Boulan, overlooking the pond or at the Cabane du Mimbeau, walk only 6 minutes and jump in the sea waves, dine nearby at the Bouchon du Ferret, a place we love… And most importantly, a mandatory stop by for a breakfast at Chez Hortense, and afterwards, our little ritual: go to the food market and have a coffee and a small cannelet at Fredelian, an institution.
La Maison du Bassin is a small hotel where you feel like home, it’s simple, authentic, smells good of wax, wood, it’s a house with a colonial style where each detail is highlighted, it’s refined and the atmosphere is cosy. It’s a place where time stands still, no tv, and no need to drive.
Rooms are modest, in an old navy spirit. I love sleeping there because I feel like I’m protected. The restaurant is simply wonderful with its fresh produce and delicious fish like we love it. Breakfast is incredible, as good as a brunch in a 5-star hotel! In the evening, it’s also the perfect moment for two or with friends, at the Bar, a cool spot with old leather armchairs and its pull table where we can enjoy a few pretty awesome cocktails… Bonus, Mister is the most happy, he can smoke his cigar on the beautiful teck terrace and its bamboos and giant palm trees!
La Maison du Bassin is our own little spot, cosy, a bit like our holiday home.’
